SIU School of Medicine’s 2025 Commencement begins at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 17, at the UIS Center for the Performing Arts. 

Collectively, 74 students will be receiving medical degrees. 

Dr. Kevin Simon is the commencement speaker. He is a psychiatrist and the inaugural Chief Behavioral Health Officer for the City of Boston. Simon is an alumnus of SIU School of Medicine (Class of 2015) and SIU’s MEDPREP.

Molly Smith, chair of the Class of 2025, will deliver remarks on behalf of the graduates.

Honored faculty include Dr. Jennifer Rose, Dr. Nick Weshinskey and Dr. Gabriel Tobón. The latter will receive the Golden Apple Award for Excellence in Teaching. Humanitarian awards will also be presented to a faculty member and a graduate at the ceremony.

Three distinguished alumni will be recognized: Dr. June McKoy (’89), Dr. David Henderson (’81) and Dr. Lacey Kruse (’09).
